Co-op coup

Last night Newham Co-operative Party said yes to democracy by voting No in the Newham mayoral trigger ballot.

It was 37 votes to 36. That may seem like a narrow win but in the context of Newham Labour politics, it’s an extraordinary result.

According to reports, 15 of Sir Robin’s Yes votes came from councillors on his vast payroll.

Two more turned up but were unable to vote because they weren’t actually Co-operative party members. And in a moment of pure comedy gold, one of them produced her Co-op loyalty card, thinking this would get her a vote.

Who was this? Cllr Joy Laguda, the supposedly-independent chair of council and ‘civic lead’ (a polite legal fiction, she’s actually a paid mayoral advisor) for adult social care.

In addition to the 15 Payroll votes and the 2 idiots who found that they weren’t actually members there were another 17 elected councillors present at the meeting, many of whom aspire to be on the payroll …. so the result was indeed remarkable.

IT IS PANTO SEASON AGAIN , i have said before about the absolute comedy show known as the co op and the way it becomes popular every four years you arrive on the night pay your dues so you can vote ,I cant believe that someone who you would expect to know the rules would turn up with a divvy card from the shops and try to pull a fast one (divvy card was what they were called in my day it is not an insult ) .However i am informed that this is not the first time this councillor has voted for a mate who stands to get a lot of public money from winning a position ,i refer to her suspension from the labour party for her interference with a scrutiny position vote which she had already done two years previous and was warned by srw never to do it again and did quite the opposite. this lead to her removal from the whip which should have dissalowed her from standing for the next election for the following four years (another dodgy deal against the electorate ) .this is the calibre of the people who surround sir robin so it is no surprise that he is having a bad time getting through the trigger ballot ,when will he wake up to these people and see they are not mates they are liabilities to him and us .they are showing him up time and again why cant he see LOOK OUT SRW SHE IS BEHIND YOU .

Co-op Party rules since September 2016 Conference in Cardiff: to vote, 3 months membership; to stand for election, 6 months membership.

she was a member of cabinet and not allowed to vote in scrutiny chair elections so she did and was warned by the whip and rw not to do it again ( it could have been a misunderstanding they said),two years later she voted for winston vaughn and was caught out a second time .this time she was demoted and then she removed herself from the whip ?did not understand that as i was always led to believe the whip removed you ,anybody suspended is a cardinal sin and generally not allowed to stand in a labour seat for a term ( can anyone reading this confirm if that is fact ) anyhow she was allowed to stand again and then became chair of council and has remained so ever since .
