About this blog

There’s not much to say that isn’t already obvious if you’ve spent a moment or two browsing the site… it’s mostly about local politics in Newham, sometimes about technology, occasionally about Spurs and once in a while a place for me to post photos.

The opinions expressed are mine and mine alone. I try to stick to the facts, but please don’t mistake anything you read here for journalism.

About comments

Feel free to tell me what you think, especially if you disagree with something I’ve said. But I’ll delete anything that’s racist, homophobic, sexist or misogynist. Or off-topic.

Don’t bother with commercial spam – it takes me less time to delete it than it takes you to post it.

About links

I link to stuff I think is interesting. That doesn’t mean I agree with it or endorse it. Pretending otherwise makes you look silly.

Links to products on Amazon may be affiliate links that generate a tiny commission for me if you buy. Or they may not, depending on whether I can bothered or remember to do it.

Interesting, my Dad was born, Odessa Road, Forest Gate 1899…. I wonder if there is any history of “Little Wonder Nursery” same address, turn of the century?

I have recently noticed an increasing number smoking weed while they are walking around Forest Gate area. Is there any way, we can stop them doing so? I am a bit worried to walk around because of that.

    Regards

Please someone help Maud Street car park is closing due, another bit of incompetence by the councillors we gave 1800 objections to the closure, Ian Corbett blocked these objections. This will put business and jobs at risk. Guess who carried out the consultation Helen Edwards, this is money scheme by the council as the proposed social housing was sold to Chinese investors.

Hi, I am trying to find Jacqueline Melissa Burns who was a conservative candidate for North Forest Gate Ward in 2006. Have you by any small chance heard of this woman, or how I may contact her?

I don’t know her, but Tim Roll/Pickering might. His blog is linked from my home page (column on the right).

Jacqui now lives in Ilford. Don’t feel it’s appropriate to put her personal details on this public forum

Hey I have an L Kersch of London art piece It is from 1975. The agent at the time was the Blancol China Company. It is a Ford Model T. 1929. We enjoy the piece very much and have had it for some time. I am just wondering if this has any value in the market these days?

I am generally concerned about Newham Social Services ,having spoken to those in their care/relatives, etc. The have cases of acute mental help that are over 15 years old. There may be lack f social auditing or organisations providing mainstream adult care receiving excessive contributions e.g. £1000 per week for each resident. Other accusations of restricted visits from relatives and sequestered benefits for those alcohol or drug dependent. Connect me for more information if yo wish…

For the interest of local residents and the borough it is important to stop corruption by member of the council. In past there are many allegations against local councillors which were not investigated by the council or mayor for some reason. Mostly councillors owned social housing, making profit from rent to buy schemes. Newham is one of the poorest borough in London, to change the overall conditions of Newham we need honest people who will lead the borough. Political party select the candidates where normal resident has no opportunity who can be nominated. One of the Ex councillor Aysha Chowdhury was accused of fraud with council property but no investigation was carried out. There are many councillors who made fortunes when they were in position to serve people of the borough. If one example can stabilised others will dare to do the same. But some how always they get way to face the law. Are they beyond the law?
