Where’s Robin?

16 Apr

The start of the election campaign has seen Twitter flooded with pictures of activists out doing their bit for the party. Newham’s Labour councillors have been doing their bit, in locations from East Ham to East Dunbartonshire.

There is one highly notable absentee from these pictures. Concerned citizens and Labour activists alike have to ask, where’s Robin?

Perhaps Labour realise what a liability he is. One small point, Newham Labour have a very strict policy of not allowing candidates to stand if they do not help with campaigning. Does his absence mean he can’t be a candidate for the next mayoral contest?

What you say is true, but as Wales is a big business loving Tory, I’m sure he really couldn’t give a damn.

And while we’re on the subject: where are the Corbetts? Crawford? Baikie? Ken Clark? Peppiatt? Furness? I could go on…

Good points. Perhaps future candidates should take note and use it in evidence when they are rejected as candidates for not campaigning. To be honest, that line only seems to be used against candidates that Wales doesn’t approve of, so I was being tongue in cheek.

I thought you were being facetious, but I thought it was worth taking the opportunity to make the point. And you’re right, it is used as a means to get rid of undesirables.

The thing that strikes me about this is the unspoken sub-text ‘nothing to worry about in Newham, a reddish piece of string is electable there, so we’ll go on a road trip’. There’s a complacency that translates into inaction at every level.

No Mayor’s Diary and only one picture of SRW (without his ceremonial chain) What’s going on?!
