Spin City

15 Mar

Mayoral ally and ‘full-time’ councillor Clive Furness has circulated his Councillor’s Report for March to local members in Canning Town North. The headline item is the recent expulsion/long-term suspension of Cllr Obaid Khan.

After rehashing the Labour group statement he has a pop at his former friend and colleague:

He has begun a disinformation campaign supported by several councillors and members in which he claims to be the victim. We should have been put on notice after the last council elections when he was arrested for fighting with opposition members at the polling station.

That’s not quite how things went down at the time, when Khan was treated as something of a hero.

Sir Robin personally bought him a new shirt to replace the one that got ripped in the fight, which he presented at the Labour victory party after Khan had been released from police cells. The mayor praised him mightily for his commitment to the cause.

And who was it, just a few weeks later, that held the mayor back during his infamous confrontation with the Focus E15 mums at the Newham Show, saving him from making a bad situation much worse? Cllr Obaid Khan.

Even by Newham Labour standards, this is an outrageous bit of spin.

Furness rounds out his section on councillor misconduct by stating with a completely straight face (link added):

Two councillors remain suspended, one pending the outcome of criminal proceedings and one awaiting action from the [National Constitutional Committee].

I wonder how he will attempt to distance himself and Sir Robin from these two when the time comes.

I’m very surprised at that. What’s Cllr Obaid khan have to do with the Councillor report? I think Clive wants to show off to his boss and also instructed by him but I don’t understand after the fight with Tory party
Sir Robin Wales appreciated him and bought him new shirt and now he is baddest person in the whole Newham, I think by doing this he is making more popular, they already scared with his popularity wanted him out of the Labour Party spreading wrong information I’m disgusted with the report of Cllr Clive, he should be ashamed off.

l am a CTN ward member this ward is a well run ward, and voted for a open selection during the Mayoral trigger, Clive was seen busing in members to get a vote for Robin and he still lost Ha Ha . Clive is the most laziest councilors in the ward and is not interested in local issues like the Silvertown link tunnel a scheme were children and adults locally will be inhaling toxic car fumes their health is of little concern, he would rather than listen to his pay master Robin Wales, trying to get as much wages as possible from the hard working council tax payers. He is lead member for health yet these issues are of no concern, the lard ass. l have read the Councillors report it is just rehashed news no one cares about.

what has it got to do with canning town ? khan is an eastham member and was his collegue . is he doing it to all wards as the chairman of the whole labour group ?,have i missed another election ,perhaps he sees himself as a protector of the mayor and would like to be a deputy mayor making it three .who are the other two suspended i thought they had all been dealt with or is it corbett and the mayor or clark .so many suspensions i have lost count .did khan get convicted for fighting if not i would suggest that he is being accused of something that could be bragging bravado on behalf of khan in front of the labour party newham .in which case i would be seeking legal advice against labour group a relieve the officers of their jobs for slander .

Is Clive their to please his master, after losing the Trigger Ballot in his own ward is the writing on the wall, i thought that days after the trigger ballot vote their was a ghost walking the streets of Canning Town no it was Furness. He was walking like a monkey with a sore ass did the ego-manic Wales had thrashed him with the cane or worst. l heard from unknown source that at the CO-OP he made a fool of himself trying to defend councilors that failed to write 100 word statements as was told by the chair to sit down or was trying to impress the love of his life.
What Furness failed to mention in his councillor report were are the other two councilors Ahmed Noor, and Raheema Rahman.
